The Bancroft String Quartet is the College of Music?s premiere group of graduate string players named after Susan and Christopher Bancroft in appreciation for their philanthropy. For the 2012-2013 year, the Bancroft Quartet is comprised of violinists Leah Greenfield and Beixi Gao, violist Veronika Vassileva, and cellist Lejing Zhou.

George Papich

Regents Professor of Chamber Music

George Papich received his formal musical training at the University of Michigan. His major teachers were Robert Courte and Mischa Mischakoff. He has had a variety of teaching experiences, both in public schools and universities, i.e. Brainerd Junior High School (Chattanooga, Tennessee), Trombley Elementary School (Grosse Pointe, Michigan), Northern Michigan University (Marguette, Michigan) and the University of North Texas (Denton, Texas). Dr. Papich has been principal violist in the Forth Worth Symphony, Dallas Opera, Dallas Lyric Opera, Dallas Ballet and the Chattanooga Symphony.

About Early Music at UNT

The Early Music Studies program is a large and significant program at North Texas. Performance ensembles come under the collective name, Collegium Musicum, which includes the UNT Baroque Orchestra, the Collegium Singers and many chamber ensembles such as viol consort, recorder consort, cornett and sackbut ensemble, ?Morley Consort,? mixed chamber ensembles of instruments, as well as instruments and voices.

Voertman Concert Hall

Renovated in 2010, Voertman Hall seats 380. Formerly known as the Concert Hall, the new performance space includes an upgraded mechanical system to reduce noise, multi-layered walls for sound isolation, a control booth, a ticket booth, a Green Room and updated lighting and audio systems.

Get Tickets for Winspear Hall and Lyric Theater events. Many Voertman Hall concerts are free, though check the calendar for details.

The UNT College of Music began live streaming ensemble performances in 2009 for parents, potential students, and distant colleagues while showing the world-renowned music programs at UNT.

Recordings are available to UNT students and faculty for educational use only. Some concerts are available on youtube.
